The 2nd video that freaked me out as a kid is a Metallica video…

Can you guess which one? I’m sure I wasn’t the only person slightly traumatized by the One video. A great video, which includes scenes from the 1970’s movie about a young soldier who gets terribly injured (no face, no limbs…), and who as a result loses all of his senses except for touch… And the military ignores his wish to die. Arg! I don’t even want to think about it, that video still terrifies me. It seems I am a softy after all.

I heard  someone on TV say that all men like Metallica (?!!) Now that sure sounds like a scientifically based statement – I love those “I asked the people around me” types of sampling methodology. But it is fair to say that Metallica is one of the most popular metal bands out there, and the group’s high energy, as well as their songs’ strong melodies (like the haunting Unforgiven, for example) have brought this band big commercial success. And the badass guitar playing stance (holding it at the knees…).

Here’s a 2000 something live performance of Master of Puppets in Québec city, a 1989 performance of Sanitarium in Seattle, and the Unforgiven video.
